Good day to all. I am hoping that there are some podcasters out there who can share there thoughts about publishng a podcast. I work in New York City and would like to teach a course on Podcasting which would envolve creating and publishing a podcast. I have no problem with the creating end but it's the publishing end that is a bit daunting. I am using wordpress for the blogging portion and have been told that if I put an audio link in my post it will crate the proper rss enclosure. So, what I want to know is: what are you using to create your podcast and how are you publishing it. I'd love some detail such as the sites you are using for file hosting and how you put it all together. I'm looking for the simplest way to do this and need to make use of the free tools such as archive.org for file storage and wordpress or blogspot for the blog and feed burner for the creation of the rss feed. So, let's hear from you and remember, all detail is welcome. Thanks.
John, there's a podcast about wordpress on blindcooltech.com. Maybe the lady who did this cast can assist you. Also, go to www.podcastalley.com for some ideas on podcasting in general.
good luck

Ahh Lou!! thanks. I'll check out that podcast. I've never done this and I even bought the olympus ds50 for recording. I am hoping to record my classes and put them up so that those who don't take notes will have a way to review. Thanks.
John, did you know that the Olympus folks have put the manual for the recorder up as mp3 files on their website? I thought this was really a very blind-friendly feature for a mainstream company.
Really!! wow I am going to look for this thanks lou! where do you get all of these fine tidbits? I did listen to the tutorial as well on blind cool tech. nice.

lou, where can i find thie mp3 manual. I tried doing a search and the olympus site is quite a mess. Thanks.
John, It probably would have been easier to e-mail it to you off zone, but I had to stumble on the right search string for this. You can't download it all at once, but you can download each individual chapter from the following address: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_audibleOM.asp. If you can't find the podcast on Blindcooltech concerning setting the time and suchh, let me know. I've a copy of it here. As far as how I find this stuff, I'm just at the right place at the right time. Glad it helps someone else.

Excellent, I'll have a look at this. Yea I think I saw that podcast and will try to find it. If I need it I'll let you know. Thanks. I am learning lots about podcasting. someone mensioned a site called GCast for hosting. Man! lot's to learn for sure. Thanks.
I second the interesting bit. I am using libsyn at the moment, and paying 5 bucks a month for like 100 mb of storage per month I think it is. Haven't podcasted in a while so am a bit hazy on the details. I usually just link to it then, once it's up, through my livejournal account. I did it this way as it seemed easier for a beginner. There is a feature of libsyn that, if you set the tags in the mp3 you are uploading, it'll grab the info and will populate it's description fields etc. Not foolproof, so you have to check it at put things right when it doesn't quite get it, but it saves a bit of time and messing about. Having said that definitely checking this info out though.
Cheers,
Simon
